Zombie protection - be prepared - be resourceful
One thing that always bugs me when reading zombie literature or watching zombie films/TV shows is the complete disregard for proper armour/apparel. When I find myself in the thick of the zompocalypse I can tell you now I won’t be running around in cargo pants and a wife beater! No – when the day finally comes and 95% of the population are ravenous flesh hungry zombies I will be prepared!
Max Brooks attempted to touch on suitable zombie protection in his Zombie Survival Guide – mentioning Samurai armour and shark suits, neither of which are too practical. It strikes me handsome that no one ever talks about motor cycle leathers – proper racing grade stuff. In my mind this would be the perfect suit of armour against our zombie foes – tough, durable, flexible and no amount of once human teeth will penetrate the thick leathery hide. Ladies and gentlemen, when the zompocalypse comes, make sure you aren’t far from such a garment!
However ‘what about if the zompocalypse kicks off unexpectedly’ I hear you cry. Well there are alternatives that can be fashioned from common household items. For example leather sofas and leather boots and shoes could be refashioned into a suit of armour fit for a king – when the time comes you will need to be resourceful!
